The Reading Room
For women who show up for everyone else all the time, but whose own needs are gathering dust at the bottom of their priority list:
This is for you.
Introducing:
The Reading Room
with Anna Marshall
What’s involved:
Four sessions with a small curated group.
Three books.
A handful of hours over four months.
An investment in you and your wellbeing.
What you will gain:
Energising conversations.
Real and lasting connections.
An expanded inner circle of support.
Clarity and a rejuvenated sense of purpose.
Real actions to transform your relationships and live with more authenticity and purpose.
Why this program is for you:
As a woman and leader you work hard, have high expectations for yourself and keep multiple plates spinning, day in, day out.
You show up for everyone around you, all the time, but your own needs and priorities have slowly but surely taken a back seat.
You feel like you are running on empty, but the cause isn’t stress or workload: it’s that all of the other fundamental elements of ‘you’ have been left gathering dust at the bottom of an old to-do list.
You feel it as ‘lack’ - lack of energy, motivation, focus, mojo.
You know the ‘real you’ is still in there somewhere but she feels like a distant memory.
The remedy? Connection.
Join us in The Reading Room, where you will:
connect with other women like you
read and reflect deeply
have real conversations that fill you up
restore the version of you that leads with energy, clarity, purpose and presence.
The Program
Theme: Authentic Relationships
The Reading Room is designed to explore the six elements of wellbeing identified in the Global Leadership Wellbeing Survey (GLWS).
Authentic Relationships is the first of the six and is regarded as the most critical to overall wellbeing.
4 live virtual sessions over 4 months:
Month 1 : Introductions and orientation. Read Book 1.
Month 2: Discuss Book 1: share insights, challenges and personal connections. Read Book 2.
Month 3: Discuss Book 2: deepen the conversation and explore how themes are showing up in your leadership. Read Book 3.
Month 4: Discuss Book 3 + closing reflection: integrating what’s shifted, and what you’re taking forward.
Time Investment:
~16-20 hours
Live sessions: ~4 hours (4 x 50 minutes)
Reading time: 10-16 hours (see Book List)
Notes/journalling/guided reflection: 2-4 hours
(i.e. total for 3 books)
Reading List:
Theme: Authentic Relationships
Book 1: Atlas of the Heart - Brene Brown
Book 2: Crucial Conversations - Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler
Book 3: Orbital^ - Samantha Harvey
^Orbital is a piece of fiction, which might seem an unusual choice for a 'book club' like this one. But there is method behind the madness: numerous studies on the power of storytelling demonstrate that reading fiction engages our creative brain, boosts our empathy and social skills, and enhances cognitive function and attention span. I’ll have a bit of that, thanks!Price: AU$650.00 (incl. GST)

From our experience, four or five participants is the "Goldilocks" number for discussion-based programs - enough people to bring a real mix of experience and views, but not so many that it feels impersonal or leaves anyone out of the conversation.
We also think one of the most valuable parts of this program is the chance to expand your inner circle and build genuine connections with other like-minded women. For that reason, we curate each cohort so everyone in your group is new to you.
It’s a rare opportunity to take off the masks we tend to wear - the ‘always on and capable’ work persona or the ‘everything’s fine!’ mask we wear to avoid acknowledging the weight of our mental load. The intention of this space is to give you permission to leave those at the door.

The cost includes 4 live facilitated online sessions, guided reflections and journaling prompts, a little surprise package of goodies, access to a private Whatsapp chat for group support and discussion - and a roomful of wisdom and experience - priceless!
We leave it to you to source the books in your preferred format (e-book, audiobook, hard copy, etc).

A: Based on the Global Leadership Wellbeing Survey Framework, Authentic Relationships is the number one contributor to your wellbeing.
We think that's the most important place to start.
From there we'll proceed to cover the remaining 6 elements contained within the GLWS - Meaning, Purpose & Direction; Energy & Vitality, Resilience & Equanimity, Balance & Boundaries, Intellectual Engagement & Flow.
-
Just two things -
buy the books on the book list. You can choose whatever format you prefer - hard copy, Kindle, Audio book, etc.
Complete an exercise that we will use in the first session to introduce ourselves. We will send you the details after you sign up.
You don’t need to have started reading before the first session - but feel free to dive in if you can’t wait!
-
You will receive a guide with questions and prompts to help you absorb and reflect on the contents of each book, apply it to your current reality, and capture your thoughts and insights.
The live sessions will focus on sharing those insights with each other, exploring how themes are showing up in your leadership and leveraging the wisdom and experience of the group to overcome challenges and expand our thinking.

We know that anybody who joins The Reading Room will get along irrespective of age, as they will share a very similar mindset - you are a People Mastery Gal after all!
That said, we'd like to create an environment inside your Reading Room where you (and the issues you face) feel seen and received. It's my belief that similar ages face similar issues, and due to this commonality the group will have a deeper level of connection and is likely then to have richer, more useful discussions.

We get it! We will be running this program three times per year - in Winter (July-Oct), Spring (Sept-Dec) and Autumn (Mar-June).
Please let us know if you are interested in joining a future program and we will make sure you are the first to know when we confirm dates.
-
These programs work best when we have 4-5 participants, so if unforeseen circumstances arise and you find you can’t attend, we’d be grateful for as much notice as possible so we can find a new member for the group.
If you cancel more than two weeks before the start date, we will offer you the choice of a full refund or a place in our next program.
If you cancel within two weeks of the start date, we will offer you the choice of a refund of 80% of your payment or a place in our next program.
We believe in the difference our programs can make for our participants and we want you to feel confident that you will have a great experience with us. If you attend the program and for any reason decide afterwards that it was not worth the investment you made, we will refund your payment.
